Admire the artistry of yesterday's headgear

"Hats off!" celebrates the time when we wore art atop our heads.
Hats served to provide warmth, protection from the elements, and to control our hair.
Hats defined social standing and expressed personality.

Hats were made out of many different materials, from paper to mink. Milliner's shops and haberdashers, where one could buy a custom tailored hat once graced every corner.

The "Hats Off!" exhibit is on display through December 15, 2008
