The Reno County Museum, 100 South Walnut Street, Hutchinson,
Kansas, has since 1986 educated and entertained thousands of visitors on the
rich history and traditions of central Kansas and Reno County. The museum
features five interpretive galleries with exhibits which change regularly, a
research library, a children’s gallery, public meeting facilities, and gift
shop. Also on the museum grounds are a restored homesteader’s claim house, and
locomotive and caboose. Within easy walking distance of downtown Hutchinson’s
restaurants and various shops, a visit to the Reno County Museum is a great way
to become acquainted with our people and our heritage.
In addition to its museum, the Reno County Historical Society is also the driving force behind the creation of the Kansas Underground Salt Museum, slated to open in Hutchinson in 2005.
